Artist’s Comments
This remote location is hidden from view can be found high on the eastern side of Castle Crags. This grand vista of Mount Shasta beckoned me to come into the wilderness near Heart Lake where I first viewed this scene. I captured the image as a small sketch on location, later creating this larger version of the vista called “Hot Summer Day” in my studio. The painting is currently displayed in The Gallery in Mount Shasta.
