Vernal Fall is one of the most stunning vistas in America. Every year, tens of thousands of visitors make the two mile trek up to the base of the fall and then half of them continue up the right side of the fall along Rainbow trail to the top. Rainbow trail is named for the magnificent rainbows generated by the mist of the fall that creates a magical light that seems to infuse color everywhere. Visitors who make the thrilling hike up to the top edge of the fall are rewarded with a stunning vista of the grand canyon of the Merced River. This painting was created with reverence to Yosemite and my love of this view of Vernal Fall.
